"READ THIS before choosing this Agent. I would NOT recommend this State Farm Location. There are many other great offices in the area, so go with a different State Farm Agent. Within 1 month of moving to Overland Park (From Denver), I had a sump-pump failure which flooded my finished basement, and here is a summary of that experience: When setting up my policy, I specifically asked that my basement be protected from any 'flooding' since I had a lot of expensive recording equipment, home theater setup, and a finished bar. I never once even spoke to Matt Ciani when setting up my policy (though I tried several times), and his assistant assured me that everything would be protected from water damage. Sure enough, one month into owning my new home, my basement flooded while I was on a business trip (resulting in about $15k in damage). Matt told me that because I didn't have an 'Sewer and Drain' endorsement, that I was NOT covered. He showed no empathy and put his efforts towards proving that my policy didn't protect this kind of incident. My frustrations are due to the fact that Matt never once called me after setting up my policy and I was 'told' initially by his staff that I would be covered due to any type of flooding damage (which, to a normal person would mean 'any' type of water damage). I would say there was definitely some 'joint negligence' in all of this, but I paid for 100% of the damages out of pocket. Go with a more honest / compassionate agent who will put YOU first and make sure you're covered the way you want to be covered."
